Poet, singer, producer and DJ OVEOUS returns to BBE Music for ‘MEDICINE’, the final in a trio of three interconnected EPs on the label.

EPs ‘FIRE’, ‘HEART’ and ‘MEDICINE’ tell a musical tale that traces OVEOUS’s personal growth, relationships and his “journey through the wonderful, curious maze that is love over the last decade”. The project “showcases how I’ve matured in relationships and how I’ve learned to navigate my ego and my heart when times have been dark.”

‘MEDICINE’ represents the final chapter in our love story. As OVEOUS puts it, this EP “transitions from the utopian experience of riding that love phase, into the realities associated with healing after two people who create a deep connection have to depart and go down a new path in their lives. However, there is also celebration in healing. To me, the death of one relationship allows for the beauty and the birth of a new experience. It is a time of reflection. An opportunity to show gratitude for the experiences we shared with a loved one.”

Opening track ‘Get At Me’, collaboration with Thosh Collins, sees OVEOUS laying down sensuous vocals over a classic deep house groove. The lyrics have the artist “praising women with a new found confidence that I might not have had if I hadn’t found love for myself, after my ego had taken a few shots to the dome-piece.”

‘Echoes of You’ is a warm, touching song, full of love and appreciation. “It was my way of saying thank you and goodbye to someone really special” says OVEOUS.

Compact, bass and chord led final track ‘I’m Goodie’, is a clear announcement of hope and a reminder that we all can heal, if we let the MEDICINE from within us do its job.

Sharpening his unique ‘Hyper Soul’ sound since 2007, OVEOUS first made waves with a guest appearance on Osunlade’s “Mirror Dance”, followed by his own production “I Apologize”, which was released on Yoruba Records with remixes from Ezel and Atjazz. OVEOUS has since gone on to work with Roy Ayers, Louie Vega and Boddhi Satva, earning himself well-deserved recognition from the global community as a truly original new voice in House and electronic music.
